Well at the same time I'm glad that they didn't try to change the original and ruin it more. It's cool to see an animated movie that we all loved in a whole new way.

Why are critics so stupid? Like this guy. PEOPLE WANTED A REMAKE. Nobody wanted a classic to be changed

I can say I like it just because I am a huge fan of the story thus the nostalgia factor but I does lack the emotional impact , many moments which were emotional in the original are nonexistent here due to its focus on realism. On technical aspect movie is amazing but emotionally fails to make a big impact, that the original still has on many generations

But aren’t all the live action movies that Disney has been releasing the retelling of an already told story? What were you expecting? More realism? Out of... animals and animals only?

They completely butchered the Be Prepared song... in the original, Scar is my favorite character with his snide comments and sarcasm... in this new one he was meh, sounded like a bitter old man and the actor they picked couldn't sing which prob why they basically cut the Be Prepared song out. Also thought the hyenas were not as funny and in sync with each other as the original.

I disagree. This film I found was brilliant. Yeah, Disney should stop making live-action remakes, but this is a film they definitely should have done. No, this film was not perfect. But the Lion King is a story about the relationship between a father and his son, and the Quality of a true King. Yeah seems like you ain't really liking how the film reenacts the original with all the shots and stuff but that was the beautiful thing about this. Its a remake of a film that never gets old. Its remade into something much more thrilling and modern. The CGI was spectacular. The Cinematography on-point. They managed to make an audience have feelings for some CGI animation.

Even if they did remake it into a different story, people would give it the same amount of hate. "They ruined it because they changed the whole story!". Its a remake, and it's very good. If you don't like this one, I do not know how you would like the original. The original actors did spectacular. So did the new ones. The thing I really enjoyed is how they brought in a bunch of modern humor into the film. And, they DIDNT POLITICALISE IT! Thank goodness. You can hate it, but this film was amazing. And let me make this clear. This film is NEVER going to be better than the original, but this is a Disney remake I actually really enjoyed (Loved). Well Done Disney. Well done.

How can it be a soulless film if its just as touching and incredible as the first one but also has probably the best visual effects ever created? Your being dumb right now

Yeah, the lack of expression and how much imagery was cut-and-paste was sort of distracting, you know, throughout the movie, but I have a very dry sense of humour, so I found Timon and Pumba's breaking of the fourth wall during Hakuna Matata worth a chuckle. For all the wasted potential I feel it had, because they could indeed have done more to make it stand on its own, I liked the changes to dialogue. When Simba and Mufasa looks at "everything the sunlight touches", and you have the talk where Simba asks if all of this would be his, and instead of saying "everything', Mufasa said "It belongs to no one, but it _is_ yours to protect". I felt like that was a very Mufasa thing to say. The whole "While some look for what they can take, a true king looks for what he can give" was a bit on the nose, it was a good message. The voice cast did a decent job, overall, no one made a bad job. Only complaint on that score I have is when Mufasa died and Simba found him, they could have recorded it again. Jonathan Taylor Thomas sounded devastated when Mufasa didn't wake up after he fell down from the cliff, here, the kid didn't really express that feeling really. I got sorta teary eyed when Mufasa died, though, although that was sorta because it reminded me of the original, toppled with my own father's passing last year, so there was some emotional bias there. I also liked the hyenas were more menacing. Beyond these points, I agree very much with Chris.

Not just Disney is reeling from the lack of originality, but every major studio, such as Warner Bros. Paramount, Universal, and Sony.

Not to mention that the unneeded sequel of Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, is just gonna create more problems for Disney. Worse, even the unnecessary The Little Mermaid live-action is making no favors, either. The casting of that movie, particularly, Ariel and Ursula were terrible and it's a f**king mess.

Right now, low expectations are now placed within the live-action remake of Mulan and the live-action spinoff of Cruella.

The visuals are awesome but the emotional impact that the animated version had is lost. Zazoo sounds like he's slow and there's no emotion behind his performance. Nala sounds great and simba isn't that bad either. If your expecting to relive the emotional impact that the original one had your going to be disappointed. This is not a shot by shot or even verbally exact copy of The Lion King from 1994. Not a bad movie but the actors sound bored in their delivery and the singing really hits below substandard. 2 out of 5...somethings just dont need to be remade.

Y'all need to make up your minds do you want a fresh take on the classic Disney movies or do you want a classic movie? Make up your damn minds or stop complaining because this is bullshit. The critics are whining about how this movie isn't "new" when it was never supposed to be "new" and from the moment the trailer was released all I heard was complaints about how the movie looks too realistic, that it looks like the original, that some, of the casting choices was questionable and so on and yet, the same group of you were the very same ones who bitched about Aladdin being too different but you were just fine with the Jungle book being virtually the exact same movie because you liked the updated look of the movie. You people just can't be pleased you love bitching because it makes you feel good, well if that's the case then just say that and stop wasting everyone's time.
